THE VILLAGE OF BURK’S FALLS
COUNCIL MINUTES

The regular meeting of the Burk’s Falls Council was held on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 7:00pm.
All members of the Council plus the Village Foreman were present.
Anneleise Bemmer was in attendance to voice her concerns regarding water run-off onto her property on High Street. Council will investigate the situation to see if there is anything they can do to alleviate the problem.

Foreman’s Report:
- Exhaust system on the International needs repairs
- Well #2 needs siding

The outside worker for a summer position applications were discussed and a decision made.

Ron Russell declared a conflict on one item on the By-Law Officer’s report.

The Council for the Village of Burk’s Falls adopts the minutes from the May 26, 2009 meeting as circulated.

The Council for the Village of Burk’s Falls approve the application for a driveway/entrance at 85 James St. as presented by Darrell & Lee-Ila Phinney.

The Council for the Village of Burk’s Falls have read the resolution circulated by The Town of Smith Falls expressing concerns with municipalities incurring the majority of costs associated with delivering library programming;

And that The Village of Burk’s Falls supports the concerns expressed in the resolution by the Town of Smith Falls and forward our support to their office for their presentation to the Premier of Ontario, Minister of Culture and the Ontario Library Service.

The Council for the Village of Burk’s Falls have read the resolution circulated by The Town of Innisfil concerning the Harmonized Tax affects on electricity rates;

And that the Village of Burk’s Falls supports this resolution and forward our support to the Town of Innisfil for their presentation to the Premier, Deputy Premier, Minister of Finance, Minister of Energy & Infrastructure, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing and AMO.

The Council for the Village of Burk’s Falls approve the application for a bingo and raffle lottery license as presented by the Armour Ryerson Burk’s Falls Agricultural Society provided all regulations are adhered to.

The Council for the Village of Burk’s Falls hire Brendon M. Gionet for the outside worker position at $10.00 per hour starting June 29, 2009.

The Council for the Village of Burk’s Falls approve the accounts payable as presented up to and including June 23, 2009 in the amount of $247,812.52 and hereby authorize the Clerk/Treasurer to issue cheques for same.
