THE VILLAGE OF BURK’S FALLS
COUNCIL MINUTES

The regular meeting of the Burk’s Falls Council was held on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Burk’s Falls Council Chambers.

Present were Reeve Cathy Still, Councillors Rex Smith, Ron Russell and Bruce Campbell. Councillor Lewis Hodgson had sent his regrets.

Delegations to Council were:
1. Dan Woods of Edge of the Woods Theatre Festival. This is an outdoor travelling theatre which performed in the Village in 2009 and were looking for financial support to return in early July 2010;
2. Teri Clarke from the Welcome Centre. She gave a brief report on activities at the Welcome Centre. She volunteered to maintain the new washrooms on Yonge Street after they were opened;
3. Gary Binkley and Yolanda Hesse, business operators in the Village, were present to voice concerns regarding parking for extended periods of time on Ontario Street taking up space that could be used for customers.
4. Len Hall, Village Foreman, was present to give his report.

That the Council for the Village of Burk’s Falls accepts the resignation of Donna Reid as part-time Administrative Assistant with regret.

The Council for the Village of Burk’s Falls have read and approve By-Law 9-2010 being a by-law to set the tax ratios for the year 2010;

And that we authorize the Reeve and the Clerk to sign this by-law and affix the Seal of the Corporation thereto.

The Council for the Village of Burk’s Falls accept the quotation from Midwestern Line-striping Inc. in the amount of $1,440.00 plus GST to do the repainting within the Village.

The Council for the Village of Burk’s Falls hereby applies for funding for the purpose of collecting, collating, compiling and formatting bridge asset and condition data, and agrees to submit bridge data for inclusion in Municipal DataWorks by March 31, 2011.

The Council for the Village of Burk’s Falls accepts the resignation of Penny McNay as Crossing Guard effective April 30, 2010 with regret. The Council also acknowledges the hiring of Dan Powell to replace Ms. McNay in this position.

That we approve the Accounts Payable as presented up to and including April 27, 2010 in the amount of $186,495.41 and hereby authorize the Clerk/Treasurer to issue cheques for same.

That the Village ofBurk’s Falls agrees to pay Edge of the Woods Theatre $800.00 to have them come to the Village on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 for a presentation.

That he Council for the Village of Burk’s Falls accepts the proposal from Juri Berzins to do the Revitalization Plan for the Village. Total cost not to exceed $9,500.00 including all taxes and expenses.
